With the most recent free to play launch of Maplestory 2 that made it available on Steam there has been huge growth of the Maplestory 2 player-base. Because of this we have decided to write a detailed Maplestory 2 Best Beginner’s Class and Build Guide that will help all the new players find their way through the Maplestory 2 world.
The most important thing when starting out in a MMORPG like MS2 is to pick the most optimal Class that is strong and easy to play so that any beginner can master it and beat the game content with ease. As of now there are a total of 9 Classes in the game, in case you are interested you should check out our Maplestory 2 Class Tier List which shows ranges from the best and worst Classes in the game.
Wizard – Best Beginner’s Class
As you might have guessed it, the Wizard is the best MS2 beginner’s Class because Wizards have high single target damage, huge AoE and excellent mobility which makes them awesome PvM characters. Wizards are welcome in just about any raids because of their versatility and ease of play. The only really viable Level 50 Wizard build is fire and we will talk about it more below.
Wizard – Best Fire Build
The skills you will be using are Phantom Claw, Flame Wave, Flame Tornado and Pyromancy as a passive because it boosts all the other DPS. If you want to be a little tankier you can always put 4 points into Magic Armor as well. Getting 10 Points into Focus Seal will boost your teammates damage by A LOT! Elemental Master is an alright Passive as well, you can put 4 points there for an additional 4% more damage with fire skills.
Obviously, the main stat you want to focus on a Wizard is Intelligence.
The main ability you’ll be using is Fire Wave, after you cast it pop Flame Tornado and keep spamming Fire Wave until Flame Tornado comes off cooldown, rinse and repeat.
In order to bring back your SP you will have to use Phantom Claw, what you can actually do is macro these abilities together -> Flame Wave -> Phantom Claw.
Flame Tornado gathers fire energy from your surroundings to create a huge flame whirlwind 4.5 m in front of you. The flame whirlwind lasts for 1.5 sec, dealing 142% (232%) fire damage to 8 enemies within 3 m every 0.3 seconds. This Skill consumes 40 spirit.
Flame Wave gathers fire energy in your staff to fling a flame wave up to 8 m in front of you, dealing 175% (292%) fire damage to enemies caught in it and setting them on fire, which deals an additional 21% (39%) every second for 10 seconds. This Skill consumes 20 spirit.
Magic Armor envelops your body with a magical aura, creating a barrier that absorbs damage up to 6% (24%) of your max health for 10 seconds. The effects of Magic Armor cannot be combined with other barrier effects.
Phantom Claw causes you to slash the air with sharp magical claws, dealing 71% (125%) damage 2 times to 3 enemies up to 8 m in front of you.
Teleport warps you 4.5 m forward. This skill can cancel other skills so be careful how you time it. Knockback immunity is active for the duration of this Skill. This Skill consumes 40 stamina.
Focus Seal imbues the earth with your magical power, creating a seal that reaches 5 tiles around you. This seal lasts for 20 seconds and increases the physical attack and magic damage of your allies who absorb it by 1% (4.6%) for 180 seconds. Focus Seal also increases physical and magic damage by 0.5%.
Pyromancy passive is an advanced fire technique taught to only the top students of the Ellinel Magic Academy. This passive Skill increases all fire damage by 3% (12%).
Elemental Master Increases your fire, ice, and electric damage by 1% (10%).
What makes MS2 Wizards the best beginner’s Class is that they are really easy and straightforward. It all comes down to mindlessly spamming Flame Wave, Phantom Claw and Flame Tornado to reign hell upon your enemies.
