With the last Path of Exile League Expansion “Legion” came the golden age of PoE melee builds. Most (if not all) melee skills received huge to moderate buffs which made them ridiculously good for literally any content you’ll want to do in Blight as well. The meta shift to melee is great as there are plenty of strong melee builds for Blight that any beginner or expert will do great with. In this article we’ll be showcasing the Top Path of Exile 3.8 Melee Builds that currently stand out from all the other builds as these tend to be the best and strongest in overall viability, damage and defensiveness.

Ice Crash received a lot of big buffs that made it a really strong melee skill for Path of Exile Blight. This build is really tanky: 78% all resistances, 6000 life and a lot of physical damage mitigation. On top of that, it also manages to reach high DPS numbers and you’ll be stunning enemies most of the time which makes it a very safe, budget starter friendly build to play for PoE Blight. The build features a relatively fast playstyle for mapping because you can leap slam into a pack, Ice crash, leap slam into the next pack and repeat. The only downside is that you won’t be able to run elemental reflect maps (which is not a big deal, not many builds can run elemental reflect, especially those on a budget). This melee build is hardcore, softcore and solo self-found viable.
This build focuses on using the Facebreaker Gloves and Rigwald’s Curse amulet in order to do a lot of unarmed critical damage. The build can deal tremendous amounts of damage, has 5000+ life and you can get both offense and defense up even more with a Loreweave chest piece. A thing to note is that this build will not work without Facebreakers and Rigwald’s Curse (which will both be really expensive in the melee meta), along with that you’ll also need Loreweave if you want to tackle this build in HC Blight and be safe. As such, you will have to invest at least a few exalts to make this build work on softcore, and a couple more on hardcore.
The Bleed Gladiator Double Striker can do all content in the game with a minimal budget. It features great survivability– evasion, block and blind as well as high damage which makes it a great boss killer and a lab farmer melee build. Bleed uses interesting mechanics and you will also one-shot explode large packs which looks awesome and the clear speed is great as well due to the explosions. Since it’s a very budget build, you can potentially use it as a starter build for new leagues and the most fun thing about it is that you can swap skills (double strike/lacerate/reave) to add some diversity.
Lacerate is in a very good state right now as it can achieve one million Shaper DPS on budget gear and it’s pretty versatile for leveling as you can use a Sword or an Axe, both will be great. Overall a very easy skill to use that has enjoyable mechanics and most beginners will pick this one as their best starter skill for Blight. This build is HC, SC and SSF viable and you’re guaranteed to have a fun time if you pick this one as it shreds through content.
A Heavy Strike Stun build used to be just for the memes, but now it’s a really viable, strong choice for all content be it bosses, delves or maps. The goal of this build is that you permanently stun lock everything and slam it until it’s dead. The fact that everything is perma stunned means you’ll rarely get hit and have low chances of dying, on top of that the build manages to get 7-8k life with 2.5m Shaper DPS (don’t forget that you perma stun Shaper as well). The only things you can’t stunlock in the game are targets that have stun immunity like Uber Elder, Vaal Temple or Pheonix so that’s really the only downside. If you’re looking for something fun and unique, this is the perfect PoE Blight Melee Build for you to try out!
Icing on the cake, a Cyclone build. Cyclone was always a really strong melee skill that has both excellent clear speed and single target capabilities. The only downside it had was it’s clunky feel as you would cast it once and then you can’t interrupt it– with high attack speed this didn’t feel too bad but if your build had low attack speed then it felt hard to play as you couldn’t dodge projectiles efficiently. This league, Cyclone has gotten some major improvements AOE improvements alongside life sustain and the ability to gain endurance charges. This build can complete all the hardest content Path of Exile has to offer: Shaper and guardians, Elder, Atziri, red maps and Delve bosses. If you’ve already tried Cyclone in the previous leagues and enjoyed it, make sure to try it in Blight because you can run it as a league starter to the endgame for a mere amount of 30-40 Chaos orbs.
